Not sure what to say?

Mac ,
My mentor and friend through many years of camping and scouting in Troop 86 at St. Luke's. Always made me feel special at every turn in life as young teenager, young man, and parent. I sincerely appreciate Mac's family for sharing him. "Rise and Shine"

Y'all have our condolences in this tough time. Sometimes we think the passing of a loved one should be easier since he was older (he had a full life, it was his time...). It is not. I still miss my Dad and Granddaddy, years later. You will, too. It doesn't get easier, we get stronger. Know that you are in our prayers. God bless you.

I just don't know where to start when talking about my dear friend Mac. This man was and always will be one of the most descent and dearest friends that a I could ever meet in life. Much more than a friend, Mac was like a second father, a second grandfather, a brother, a teacher, a councilor, a confidant, and much more than just a shoulder to cry on if needed. With Mac's passing the Scouting community has taken a significant blow. He was able to inspire everyone he came in contact with, whether by his words, actions, or famous Dutch oven cooking. All of us who had the pleasure of his company are the better for it! Rest in peace Brother Mac, you will be missed.

In 1979 when I was transferred to Birmingham from Brentwood, Tennessee, our Nashville Mother and Mentor Mary Enoch told me to be sure to look-up young Mac Gant a Vandy attorney now living here. Mary and husband Lee Enoch were both retired attorneys. She related what a marvolous young man he was and how for many years when he was a Vanderbilt undergrad and law student they would employ him as a Square Dance Caller for parties at their summer house pavilion on Otter Creek. They said he was the...

Mac was one of those few people who always had his priorities straight. He gave much and will always be remembered and appreciated by many.

The White Cross of Sigma Chi gained new luster by his life.

Mr. Gant was always so kind and sweet to us. A true gentleman. Always loved hearing his stories of boy scout trips, etc. Will be greatly missed by all. We send our love. Starrett, Donna, and Jacob Green

Many Scouts from Central Alabama have wonderful memories of Mac. He was a true leader, and set the bar extremely high for other troop leaders to follow. He was loved and will be missed.
