ANDREW GETSIE Obituary

ANDREW GETSIE, 79, of Fort Wayne, passed away Friday, Nov. 18, 2022. Born on June 15, 1943 in Uniontown, Penn., he was a son of the late John and Marie (Gillen) Getsie. Andrew was a pipefitter by trade. He had been employed in Fort Wayne at International Harvester, Slater Steel, and General Motors. During his tenure from 1986 when GM opened until his retirement in April 2012, he was known as "The Stamp Man". In his free time, he enjoyed traveling to Pennsylvania, working outside, attending his grandchildren's sporting events, and scuba diving. Surviving family include his daughters, Andrea Stieglitz and Heather (Jason) Burton; his grandchildren, Jacob Burton and Josie Burton, all of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and sister, Linda Getsie of Masontown, Penn. Besides his parents, he was preceded in passing by his brother, John "Jack" Getsie III; and his sister, Joanne Owens. A celebration of life gathering is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022, at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne. Condolences and memories of Andrew may be left online at www.greenlawnmpfh.com. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Alzheimer's Association through Greenlawn Funeral Home.
