Waller-Thornton Funeral Home - Trinity Obituary

Andrew R. House, "Andy ", passed away on November 6, 2023 surrounded by  his loving family.  He was born in Shelbyville, Tennessee to loving christian  parents, Anna Francis and Dr. Andy House.

His family moved to Jackson, Tennessee where he attended high school.  He graduated high school and decided to join the Marine Corp.  He was selected from an elite group of forty men to serve in London, England and guard the U. S. Embassy  for  two years.  It was quite an honor to be selected .  While there he proposed to his high school sweetheart, Nan.  They had a Marine Corp wedding in London and soon started their family. Their first son was born there.  After serving in England Andy came home to Tennessee and attended college at Middle Tennessee State University where he graduated with a B.S. in chemistry.  He was also blessed with another son and a daughter during this time.  After graduating college he accepted a job with Devoe Paint in Louisville, Kentucky.  He started as a chemist in the lab and eventually became V. P. Marketing with ICI where he held this position until he retired after thirty years.  After retirement Andy wanted to travel and see our country so he bought an RV and he and Nan traveled many years sometimes taking grandkids with them.  Andy was a true sportsman, loving hunting and fishing and just being outdoors.  He always kept a weekend cabin or farm where his children and grandchildren could enjoy this with him.  He passed his passion on to all of his family.  Andy had many friends through the years at work and in his business travels.  He was a great friend and could always make you laugh.  Anddy was raised in the Baptist church and was a Christian and attended Dorcas Wills Baptist Church.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Nan of sixty five years and three grown children, Rick, LaNan and Todd, 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all.

Not sure what to say?

Andy was a great person. And an awesome boss. I was saddened to hear of his passing.
My prayers go out to his family.

So sorry to hear the sad news. Andy and I worked, travelled together during Devoe coatings days. We lost a great guy.

A great family led by a Great Man, we grieve for you and celebrate Andy’s life with you, in every remembrance.
Philippians 1:3

In remembrance of Andy, May the love of friends and family and the knowledge by faith of the many promises of God, be your strength and carry you through your grief.
