George L Doherty Funeral Service, Inc - Somerville Obituary

Andrew “Andy” W. Hunt of Somerville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 17, 2023.

Beloved son of William and Jacquelyne Hunt of Medford.

He was the loving brother of Lisa O’Leary and her husband William of West Newbury and uncle to Taylor O’Leary of Seattle, WA and Jacqui O’Leary of West Newbury.

He leaves behind many, many lifelong friends. Raised in Somerville, Andy graduated from North Cambridge Catholic High School and attended the University of Massachusetts – Boston.

He was currently working as the Superintendent of Public Grounds and Maintenance for the City of Everett. Andy was quick with a smile, a laugh and made friends wherever he went. His larger-than-life personality never failed to light up a room. His passion for golf was tremendous. If Andy wasn’t visiting his mom & dad, you would find him on the golf course. More than likely, if you were a friend of Andy’s you had golfed with him.

Visiting hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, Monday evening, September 25th,  4:00 - 7:00. Relatives and friends invited.

A funeral Home Service will be held Tuesday morning September 26 at 10:00.

In lieu flowers, donations in Andy’s memory can be made to For Kids Sake Foundation at Donate – For Kids' Sake Foundation (forkidssakefoundation.org)

Not sure what to say?

So shocked to hear of this. He was a great person his smile will be missed. RIP my friend. Joanne Moreno

Dear Bill, Jackie and family, I am so sorry about the passing of Andy. When he came to Cabot we would always have a laugh. Our son Bradley passed away in May of 2010. It’s just terrible to lose a son. Bill, I called you so we could talk. Sincerely, Margaret & John Burns Tewksbury, MA

I'm sorry we couldn't make it down. Issues came up yesterday that couldn't be avoided. Our condolences for Andy's passing. Jack and Cathy Hunt

You will be missed RIP Andy

Bill & Jackie our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Bill I remember well your kind words of over 20 years ago when we lost our son Jay at an early age.
May all your good memories comfort you.
Rich & Kathy Heffernan

What a nice kid Andy was from the time I met him in my teen years. Shocked to see he has passed on, he was a friend to many and an overall genuinely nice guy. My condolences to his family and close friends.

To the Hunt family
There are zero words for this loss. Andy was a true friend and the best of the best. I'm so thankful to have called him a friend. He will never be forgotten as one of Somerville's finest ... his legacy is rich & full of laughter, kindness & of course golf!

Andy will be missed by all who had the good fortune to call him a friend, his larger than life personality will surely be missed. R.I.P. Andy

My thoughts and prayers go out to Andy's family and friends. A lot of great times with Andy who we called Hollywood. R.I.P. old friend
