It was with sadness that I read of the passing of both Col. & Mrs. McFarland. I and my late parents, Len and Betsy were next door neighbors back in the Presidio days. I was so saddened to hear about the passing of both your mother and father in such a short period of time. I remember your father as being very strong in his opinions, very intelligent, and with a wonderful sense of humor. Since I was so young when I knew him, I didn't realize what an interesting life he had led--no wonder he could speak intelligently on any topic that came up.
