KRISH, Andrew J. - Age 86, passed away July 4, 2010, at Genesys Hospice following a brief illness. Andrew was born March 7, 1924, in Owosso, MI, to Stephen and Elizabeth Krish. He graduated from Owosso High School in 1942 and entered the US Navy, serving in the South Pacific, aboard the USS DuPage. He received a Purple Heart during his service. After being discharged, he married Macey Madeline Lundy, in 1946, in Owosso, MI. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Flint, where Andy worked for GM and retired after 42 years. He was the editor of UAW Local 598 Newspaper, "The Eye Opener". He was very active in the Boy Scouts of America, President of the Bendle PTA, Vice President of the Bendle School Board, and President of the Genesee County Association of School Boards. He was an active member of the USS DuPage Association and took great delight in attending their annual reunions. He was also a member of the local 822 VFW Post. Andy took great pride in visiting every state in the US, most notably Alaska, which he visited 3 years in a row. He was an avid reader, interested in WWII non-fiction and the occasional Zane Grey novel. Andy was the embodiment of a lifelong learner. At age 86, he purchased his first lap top computer and delighted in Skyping and emailing with his many grandchildren. He loved family gatherings and most recently attended his grandson's wedding in Oak Harbor, OH this past Memorial weekend. Andy is survived by his wife of 64 years, Macey Madeline, children, Vickie (Vern) Hill, Janet (Rob) Carr, Joseph (Stacey) Krish, and David (Michelle) Krish. In addition, he is survived by grandchildren, Madeline, Maegan, Matthew, Emily, Kathleen, Paul, William, Mackenzie, and Samuel, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings; Steve, Anna, John, Mary, George, Jeanette, Robert, Larry, and Betty. Memorial Service was held Monday, July 12 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Military graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Great Lakes National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Salvation Army, 211 West Kearsley Street, Flint, MI 48502, in memory of Andrew Krish. I am very sad to hear of Andy's passing. He was a shipmate of my father on the USS DuPage during World War II. Andy always had a smile on his face and was happy to see everyone at the Annual DuPage Reunions. He was a real Gentleman, and also a member of the "Greatest Generation". I will miss him. The traditional farewell (or toast) of a mariner is wishing a friend "Fair winds and following seas" Andy!

I have many fond memories of Uncle Andy. He was so welcoming and kind to mom, Robin, Cheri and me, but what I remember most is that he always seemed to be smiling. I'm so sorry for your loss. Love Missy and Family.

THE MEMORIES STILL WARM MY HEART TODAY,WHEN MR.KRISH HAD TIME FOR JOE AND I WHEN WE WERE SO YOUNG, MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU.

Aunt Maggie, Vickie, Janet, Joe, and David-
Bruce and I were so sorry to hear of Uncle Andy's passing. He is very much a part of my childhood memories of our get-togethers. And I still smile when I think about him buzzing over the Interstates from wherever Joe or Janet was in the west back to Michigan. And I remember Vickie telling me about all the times he rode with her to college classes when she was working on her degree. Lots of memories that make me smile. I'm so sorry you've...
