Andrew M. Lefcowitz, 67, of Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at this home.

He was born September 22, 1953, in New Brunswick, NJ, a son of the late Lois (Bleichfeld) and M. Jack Lefcowitz.

He grew up in Washington, D.C., and moved to Pittsburgh in 1970 and graduated from the Taylor Allderdice High School.

On December 9, 1984, he married Susan L. (Brown) Lefcowitz, who survives.

He was a member and Lay Speaker of the Hopewell United Methodist Church.  He was very passionate about the Crosstown Food Pantry, where he served as the minister.

His move to the Punxsutawney area was brought on nineteen years ago when he acquired a position with The Punxsutawney Spirit as their Marketing Director.  Andy worked in sales and also as a chef.  He was a member of the BPOE Elks 301, a charter President of the Kiwanis and President of the Monroe County American Heart Association.

He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved his grandchildren and his dogs.

In addition to his wife Susan, he is survived by four children, Adam Lefcowitz and wife Melissa of White Oak, Joshua Lefcowitz and wife Jennifer of White Oak, Tamara Lefcowitz and Steve Mescan of Pittsburgh, and Tiffany Gottsbleben and husband Rick of Jacksonville; siblings Mark Lefcowitz and wife Cheryl, Jules Lefcowitz, and Ellen Banta; nine grandchildren Alycia, Meaghan, Stephen, Jeremiah, Ruth, Joscelyn, Judah, Aviella, and Teya.

There will be no services held at this time for Andy.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in memory of Andy, to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
