Growing up in the Oakland Greek Orthodox Church in the late 1940's and 1950's, many of us born here to immigrants wanted to fit in to America without losing our "Greekness". Andy stood out because he had done that. He was born here, was a veteran, and the old immigrants deferred to him. He was an example for us.

Dear Paula and Dean, Pau and I were very sorry to learn of your great father's passing. His spirit is BIG! Never having met him Paul and I are very moved by his heroism and larger than life persona. We know this by knowing you Paula. Andrew Sam Mousalimas' spirit lives on in all of you. Our thoughts and hearts are with you.

A truly great man. Would have loved to have met him, but even more, would have loved to have had my Dad meet Andrew. Too bad my father passed before we-Pamela & myself--had met Paula. Maybe they are shaking hands now!
