Andrew Jackson "Andy" Thomason

Thomason, Andrew Jackson "Andy", -age 90, of West Knoxville, son of the late Arthur and Ora Parris Thomason of Harlan, Kentucky, died Monday January 14, 2013. He was a longtime member of West End Church of Christ where he served as a deacon. Andy was a retired accountant and spent his 42 year career with Union Carbide in Oak Ridge. He served with the U.S. Marines in the South Pacific Theater during WWII where he was awarded the Purple Heart at Guadalcanal. Andy was also preceded in death by 5 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his loving family: beloved wife of 64 years, Ruth Hopwood Thomason; daughters and son-in-laws, Sharon Thomason Roth and husband Gary of Boones Mill, Virginia, A. Coleen Thomason of Wears Valley, Teresa Thomason Baker and husband Mark of Sanibel, Florida, Amy Catherine Thomason of Maryville; grandchildren, Andrew Adam Roth and wife Suzie, Ryan Baker, Nicholas Baker; great granddaughters, Lainey and Margo Roth; sister, Ruth Thomason Asbury and husband Bill of Ohio; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Service 11:00 A.M. Friday West End Church of Christ with Wayne Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery with Full Military Honors presented by Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard.
