Andy was a very special person to me and my family. We lived by Loyola so Andy had dinner frequently with us and my uncle, Fr. Guy Lemieux, S.J. The discussions around the table were always very lively and enlightening. May his soul rest in peace. Mary Lee Kemp Heumann Schmidt, Chattanooga, TN

Betty, I know that your brother lived a full and adventurous life as a Jesuit. My prayers are with you at this time. May he rest in the peace of Christ, our hope!

Fr. Whitman (right of the groom) looking on approvingly.
We are grateful to God that Fr. Whitman was part of our lives. From two confused Freshman Mathematics majors in his 1966 Linear Algebra class to our wedding four years later which he kindly witnessed. There were his visits and his words of encouragement while we were in graduate school and more when we returned to Loyola University of New Orleans with our advanced degrees. Over many years, we traded letters at Christmas time. Now we are old people just missing another part of our lives...
