Andrew J. Yuroff, founder of Thompson Creek Turkey Farm, died unexpectedly in his home September 17, 2015. He was 69 years old. Andrew began his career at Buick in 1965, where he worked on the assembly line and in Plant Protection. After 30 years, he retired from Buick, and the second phase of his Flint journey began. Andrew had become interested in horse racing, eventually becoming an owner. He bought a farm in Lennon to raise his horses. When he left horse racing, he began raising turkeys, and the farm became the site of Andrew's legacy, the Thompson Creek Turkey Farm. What started as a turkey-smoking operation at the Flint Famer's Market quickly grew in popularity, and the business grew to include a deli in Flint and a restaurant in Grand Blanc. Though the chain of restaurants is now closed, many will always remember events celebrated at the restaurant, or stopping by to stock up on jerky on their way up north for hunting.
When he could get away from the restaurant, Andrew enjoyed fishing and visiting casinos. He was preceded in death by his mother, Iris Durfee, and father, David Yuroff. He is survived by his daughter, Patty Yuroff, and granddaughter, Leslie Hayden. He is also survived by his sister, Sandra (Robert) Sanders, stepfather Bassel Durfee, and nephews Chad and Micheal Sanders.
A memorial will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 4 at the Flint Farmer's Market, 300 E. 1st St, Flint, MI.

I feel so fortunate to have had a friend like Andy. Some people go a lifetime and never experience a friendship like we had. You never forget that.

Andy was the best friend I ever had. We shared the good times-We shared the bad times. Best man at my wedding. Like a true friend, he was ALWAYS there. He was the kind of friend everyone wishes for but few have. LIKE A SHOOTING STAR

I am shocked by Andy's passing. Many times I stopped by Thompson Deli on Hill road and had lunch with Andy. He was my next door neighbor in Lennon and he will be missed!

Andy and I were best friends ever since working together at Buick. Andy was the best man at my wedding. I have 40 years of wonderful memories. This was the last thing that I, along with many others, saw coming. There will be a huge void in a lot of lives. Phillip & Jan Dennington
