Not sure what to say?

Dear Fortunato Family,
It was a rare evening in the fall that Butch's name wasn't mentioned at our dinner table. My dad, Clary Anderson, considered Butch one of his closest friends as well as the architect of one of the best high school football defenses ever. Their coaching together defined my dad's life in so many ways, and I like to think that they are now together talking about the upcoming football season. They were like two sides of the same coin.
I was very sorry to hear of...

To the Fortunato Family -
I considered Butch to be a good friend, concerned citizen, and excellent neighbor. I worked with him for many years in Montclair through the police department and through the Montclair High School football program when I did the team physicals at the request of my brother-in-law Clary Anderson. Butch will be fondly remembered by the scores of young men he coached and taught. I'm very sorry for your loss.

Dear Ellen, Barbara, and all survivors.........I loved Butch. His first year of coaching basketball at MHS in 1952-53 was my junior year. When Harry Zingg and I visited Butch seven years ago, he told us that winning the Essex County Tournament the next year with an overall undefeated season was one of his greatest thrills in all of his coaching years. We could not have done it without him at the helm. I am saddened to know that along with Harry and Aubrey from that team, Butch is no longer...

Dear Ellen,
I was very sorry to hear of Butch's passing. Joe had enjoyed playing football under him at MHS 1943-45 and probably enjoyed watching our son John play under him in the 1970's. I was surprised to see that Kenny had passed away as well. My deepest sympathy to you and your family.

To the Fortunato Family: From the Galasciones (Joe, John, Ralph) who were all coached by Butch. We gained so much from him, and the good he did for so many young people I hope will give you some consolation at this difficulty time. He truly was a GREAT MAN, and a GREAT COACH...john galasdione MHS '53)

In memory of Harry H. Zingg, MHS '54, I send you my sincerest sympathy on the passing of Butch. I feel as though I knew him just from communication between Dave Perham, Dave (Whitey) Fulcomer and Harry. They all had great respect for, and wonderful memories of Butch. Dave P. and Harry had a memorable visit with him several years ago.
Most sincerely, Judith U. Zingg

Dear Ellen,

My name is Penn Lardner. My memories of Butch started during a campaign for Police Commissioner that involved my father, Richard Lardner, as his campaign mamager. Butch was an icon to me as I moved up through the junior high school years. Finally, I was thrust into his no-nonsense, tough winning ways that both he and Clary promoted. These values have stayed with me through my years and I have always reminded myself when things get rough that I managed to get through the...

My thoughts & prayers are with your family at this time.

TO ELLEN AND FAMILY.
I WISH TO EXPRESS MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY AND SINCERE CONDOLENCES ON THE RECENT PASSING OF BUTCH.

PLEASE BE ASSURRED OF MY SUPPORTIVE PRAYER FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU DURING THIS TIME OF MOURING.

SINCERELY,
