Not sure what to say?

I also knew Mrs. Berkowitz from Southeast High School( class of '68) . Occasionally I would see her out in front of her house and stop to visit. She was very much a lady who commanded respect from all who knew her. I also had occasion to see her at Village Shalom when my mother in law was living there before she passed on. She was always a cheery ray of sunshine. I am so sorry for your loss.

Ms. Berkowitz was one of my first teachers at Southeast High School who exhibited a genuine interest in my education. And Ms. B, please forgive me for not picking you up for the 30th reunion of the Class of '62.

I,too, was a student in Mrs. Berkowitz's Spanish class and also a member of the Spanish Club for which she was the faculty sponsor at Southeast High School. Over the years, I have thought of her often, wishing now that I had made the effort to go see her and to tell her how much I appreciated her. Her methods of teaching Spanish also helped me greatly with English grammar, etc. I continue to be fascinated by her long and full life, especially her travels. She was a great teacher and...

Please know that the family of Anita will be remembered in my prayers,I have lost a very dear friend. I lived across the street at the Villas from Anita and we were dear friends for over four years.I was sad to leave her when I moved to Utah, we had many good times together. My daughter and I saw her in December and we said good-bye then to a lovely lady.Nathaniel,Myra and Edward,I really loved and admired your Mother.God Bless,Mary Betty Green

Mrs. Berkowitz was my teacher at Southwest High School. She was extraordinarily tenacious and maintained just the right degree of spunk for all of us "witty" teens. God bless her for what she imparted. In spite of ourselves we LEARNED!

I too was taught Spanish (2 yrs) at Southeast by Mrs. Berkowitz. It doesn't seem to have been that long ago that I talked with her at the Waldo Library. We spoke of her career at SE. We also discussed her students and her following the career of Logan Vincent Cole. She told me to take her her home (which I did). We sat and talked a little longer in the drive way about her family and right before she went into the house, she turned and asked me, "Was I a good teacher?" To this I answered,...

I volunteered with Anita for several years at the Nelson Museum. She was always interested in everyone and everything. I so enjoyed talking to her - she was a unique person. So sorry for your loss, but what an intersting life she led.

Mrs. B kindly mentored me as a junior at SOUTHEAST H.S., allowing me to assist her in freshman English...this must have been in 1959-60. What a wonderful woman!

I enjoyed 4 years of Spanish with Mrs. Berkowitz at Southeast High School as did so many other students. I didn't appreciate her sense of humor until I was an adult (Ha!), but what a dedicated teacher. I am sorry for your loss but I see that she continued to lead a full life.
