Ann M. Batson

Dover: Ann M. Batson, 80, died early Friday morning, April 2, 2004, at the St. Ann Healthcare Center, Dover Point Road after a period of failing health. She was a former resident of 160 Green Street, Somersworth, N.H. and Rye, NY.

Born December 23, 1923, in Port Chester, NY, she was the daughter of Thomas and Ann (Taylor) White. She was married to James S. Batson, who predeceased her in 1985. She lived in Rye, NY. for many years, working part-time for the Rye Police Department while raising her family.

In 1989 she moved to Dover to be near her daughter. An accomplished seamstress, she loved all kinds of needlecrafts. She also had a love for her Irish heritage.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas James Batson of San Francisco, CA and William Snell Batson of Yonkers, NY; and one daughter, Jamie Ann Batson of Somersworth, NH and St. Croix, US Virgin Islands.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, Dover and Oyster River Crematory, Barrington.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cocheco Valley Humane Society, County Farm Road , Dover, NH 03820 or to the Young Adult Institute of New York, New York.
