Not sure what to say?

Ann's granddaughter Eliza is one of my best friends, and I have many fond memories of Ann throughout the years. To me she truly exemplifies the best of New York City. She always welcomed me into her beautiful apartment (seriously the most well-decorated home I have ever been in!) with open arms, chocolate covered almonds, and the most delicious poached eggs. Ann was not only kind; she was also extremely intelligent, very cultured, and endlessly classy, with a great sense of humor and a...

My first memories are of being in the house in Watermill with the Buttrick kids napping around me, and Ann coming in and waking us up... her laughter and connection with all of us, her instantaneous welcome to the table, confident that whatever was in the house would be more than enough for an additional family to come to supper on a moment's notice. When Sara said, "we only have one pie," she answered, "We'll make another," like it was not big deal. It's just a little memory, but we were...

Please except my deepest sympathies to you and your family at this time of grieving. May God be with you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Ann was a great friend to three generations of my English family. My grandmother, Belinda Norman-Butler, had looked after Harry Buttrick when he came to England as a young man on a scholarship immediately after the war. My grandmother's friendship with the Buttricks continued for six decades until she died in 2008 at the age of 100. Meanwhile, Ann had become a great friend to Belinda's daughter, Catherine - my mother - and Clive Wilson, my father. They had a long correspondence and...

An amazing woman that made a huge impact on my life through her generosity. I was so blessed to know her and share her beautiful piece of paradise here at her home in Lyme. Much love to the entire family. She will be greatly missed.

Ann White and Lydia Huntington 1940.

This is one among many photos from my mother's archive of photos from childhood days on Long Island. 'Annie' and Lydie (in the photo) were lifelong dear friends of my mother (whom they called "Chippy"). I enjoyed getting to know Ann better myself over the past few years and helped share many photos and stories from my mother to her. We are so sad to hear of her passing and send our love and best wishes to her family.

I have lost a dear, lifelong friend. Ann and I attended Newton College of the Sacred Heart together and have kept in touch ever since. We spent time together at Watermill in the Summer and whenever we made it to New York she graciously hosted us. Ann was one of a kind and we will miss her. We send sympathy, love and prayers to all the family.
