Allie and I were friends in college, and haven't been in touch since then. Another friend saw the obituary. in the NYT and told me. I'm very sad that she's gone so soon; she was a really good person. Allie was often contemplative, but also very smart and wry. I particularly remember going with her to an extraordinary production of Othello in Central Park with Raul Julia as Othello, Christopher Walken as Iago, and Meryl Streep as Desdemona.
