Not sure what to say?

Dear Paul and Jenny,
I just came upon this news by chance on the internet. Edward and I send you our deepest condolences and prayers.
Warmly, Beverly

Dear Paul & Jenny: We at St. James's were very sorry to hear of Ann's death. We always enjoyed your participation in our services, and hope that both of you can look back on her life with joy.

Jenny,

I am so sorry about your mother. You know you are in my thoughts. If you need anything at all I'm just a phone call away.

Your friend

Dr. Freeman (as she was then) was on the faculty at Chatham College in Pittsburgh, where I was lucky enough to take one of her history courses. She was engaging, passionate, brilliant without being intimidating, and a completely inspiring teacher. I have never forgotten her. When my classmates and I heard that she had met and married a fellow scholar, (and a monk at that!), we thought it the most romantic thing we'd ever heard. Still is, as far as I'm concerned. I am so sorry for your loss...
