O'Brien Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services - South Hadley Obituary

SOUTH HADLEY – Ann F. Provost, 81, beloved wife of Normand R. Provost, passed away on Thursday, July 18th surrounded by the love of her family in Del Ray Beach Florida. Ann was born in Cambridge, the daughter of the late James H. and Cornelia (Murphy) Sullivan. Ann met her husband as a freshman at Westfield State College, married in 1962, and moved to South Hadley where she raised her five children. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She and her husband purchased Gerry’s Music Shop of South Hadley in 1974. They worked tireless hours, hand in hand, to grow their family business where she served as the bookkeeper for over 30 years. Aside from her roles with the business and her family, Ann made time to be a Brownie and Cub Scout Leader, was an avid reader, and loved to gamble!  The Casinos will miss her but we know she is winning big up above!

She leaves behind her loving husband of 62 years, Normand of Boynton Beach, FL, and five children; Normand R. Provost Jr. and wife Cathy of Hilton Head, SC, Elizabeth Mullins and Margaret Provost of Lebanon, NH, Eileen Rizzo of Berkeley Heights, NJ, and James Provost and wife Mandy of South Hadley, a sister, Joan Cullen Sullivan Smith of Roanoke, VA, sister-in-law Lucia Sullivan of Westfield, MA, 11 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Ann is predeceased by her brother, James H. Sullivan.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 3-7 pm at the O’Brien Family Funeral Home, 33 Lamb St. South Hadley, MA. The funeral will begin at the O’Brien Family Funeral Home at 11:30 am on Saturday. A liturgy of Christian Burial will take place at Saint Patrick’s Church at 12:30 pm. Committal rights will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Hadley, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, act.alz.org/donate.

Not sure what to say?

My deepest condolences to the entire family during this difficult time. Thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Jennifer Gauthier

I’d like to say goodbye to my sweet cousin Ann. My favorite babysitter and giver of the warmest hugs. I can remember her showing me where Jimmy had been by running her finger over the map of Vietnam that Connie kept in the kitchen .. A lifetime ago my thoughts are with the Provost family and hope that you are all together.. much love

Uncle Norm and family, I was saddened to hear that Aunt Ann had passed. I wish that I could be there to mourn with you. Take care and remember all the good times you had over the years.

Norm and Family, Sending you our deepest condolences. Jessica always loved waving to Anne as she headed to school in the morning.
