Ann Marie Richards, age 90 of Mount Vernon, WA passed away in the afternoon of August 6th, 2024, with family by her side.
Ann was born to Ole and Thone Tollum on October 26, 1933, in Mount Vernon, WA. She graduated from Burlington Edison High School in 1952. Shortly after graduating Ann married the love of her life Robert Richards, at the Allen Methodist Church in Bow, WA. Ann and Robert went on to build a life on the family farm, raising their two children in Mount Vernon, WA.
She managed O’Connor’s Women’s Apparel for 18 years before purchasing the business in 1991 and renaming it Ann Richards Women’s Apparel. Ann’s business continued to thrive until she retired in 1998. If you knew Ann, you know she was not one to sit around. After retiring she worked part time at Rose & Thistle and Work Outfitters. Ann worked with several people throughout her career, many who went on to become lifelong friends.
After leaving retail, Ann lived a quiet life on the farm where she enjoyed gardening, tending to the outside birds, and taking care of her horse “Jims”. She also enjoyed traveling, shopping, and her Sunday drives with her husband delivering flowers.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents Ole and Thone Tollum and her husband Robert Richards. She is survived by her two children, Julie Johnson, Jeff Richards; grandchildren, Erika Peck (Colby), Brandon Peck (Cori), Jillian Gieger (Travis), Sarah Richards-Velez (Miah), Lauren Blomenkamp (Tanner), Cheryl Parker (Wes), Rick Johnson; 12 great-grandchildren, and her best friend, her dog Sona.
Ann will truly be missed as a mother, grandmother, and friend.
A celebration of life reception will take place on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the Mclean Road Fire Department in Mount Vernon WA.
