Not sure what to say?

Today is Qingming for Chinese people, a day dedicated to remembering our loved ones who have passed away. It dawned on me that when we were in Boston after leaving Beida, Ann was the same age as I am now. I may have disappointed Ann in terms of her expectations for me to make an impact if I had returned to China. However, I am confident she would be proud of the work I am doing today. Becoming who I am today owes a great deal to having Ann as my friend and mentor.

Professor Seidman was a great teacher. She taught me Introduction to African Politics in 1972. An activist, a mother figure, one you will never forget.

Ann and Bob were my best friends and mentors. While they were in Beida, I was their assistant assigned by the department. After we came to the States in 1989, we (group of visiting scholars from Beida) spent most of the weekends together in their oceanside house, chatting freely about politics, economics and family lives. Our first Thanksgiving was spent with their families at their son's suburban house. We will miss her dearly.

I worked with them both. it was a joy spending time at their office in Boston University or at their home munching Ann's homemade Apple pie discussing law and politics in Africa.

I loved them both. So so sorry.
