Anna Mae Burkholder, age 92 years, 11 months, and 26 days of Nappanee, IN, died at 5 am Tuesday morning, March 24, 2026 of natural causes at her home. Anna Mae was born on March 29, 1933 in Bremen, IN to Dan M. and Lovina G (Hochstetler) Hochstetler. She was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. On June 12, 1952 Anna Mae married Alvin E. Burkholder. He preceded her in death on October 22, 1993. To this union were born 3 daughters and 2 sons. Anna Mae is survived by 2 children: Mary Lou Zehr of Goshen and Larry (Marlene) Burkholder of Nappanee; 14 grandchildren; 53 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren: Son in law, Perry (Eva) Yoder of Shipshewana; Daughter-in-law, Carol Borkholder of Milford, IN; 2 sisters: Esther (Mel) Hochstetler of Ava, IL and Linda (Raymond) Slabaugh of Nappanee, IN and 1 brother, Gerald Hochstetler of Marion, MI. Anna Mae was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 daughters: Sharon Burkholder and Etta Fern Yoder; a son, Lamar Burkholder; a grandson, Brandon Zehr ; and 4 brothers: Monroe, Willis, Leroy, and David Hochstetler. Visitation will be held after 2pm on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 and all day Thursday, March 26, 2026 at the Michael Burkholder Residence (29899 CR 56, Nappanee, IN). A funeral service will begin at 9:30 on Friday, March 27, 2026, also at the Michael Burkholder Residence. Bishop Edward Miller and Home Ministries of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate. Burial will take place in Weldy Cemetery. Arrangements are with Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee.
