After a long and loving life, Anna Marie (Weixel) Krieger passed away Sunday, March 9, 2008, with her children, several of her grandchildren and friends at her side.
Anna was born Nov. 16, 1917, in Stutsman County, N.D., to Michael and Lydia (Deutscher) Weixel. After graduating from the eighth grade, she went to work to help support the younger members of the family. Later she came to Montana with her brother to work in the beet fields in the Huntley Project area. She also worked for Archie Holden, owner of the Worden Pharmacy.
On Dec. 3, 1939, she married Gideon Krieger in Alfred, N.D. They came back to Montana, where they farmed east of Worden for many years. In 1967, they moved to Billings, where she worked for Security Federal Savings and Loan and Holiday Inn before retiring to their home in the Heights. She enjoyed being with family and friends, fishing, gardening, cooking German dishes and crocheting. Her family will long cherish the wonderful crocheted gifts.
Anna is survived by her husband of 68 years, Gideon; daughter Joanne (Dick) Reisbig; her sons, Eugene (Nancy) Krieger, Garry (Linda) Krieger; her grandchildren, Paula (Randy) Adams, Lisa (Marvin) Sticka, Jacqueline (Harlan) Penninger, Nicole (Kevin) O'Donnell, Heather (Karl) Wenz, Kimberly (Mike) Getlinger, Travis (Jenny) Krieger, Jeff Krieger, Jennifer (Chad) Bargstadt; 16 great-grandchildren; her sister, Leah Hehn; her brother, Elroy (Harriet) Weixel and her brother, Reinhardt (Margaret) Weixel.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Alvin, Robert and Aaron Weixel; sisters Ruth Weixel, Ida Weixel and Rachael Voegele; and her son, Michael Krieger.
Visitations will begin Thursday morning, March 13, at the Smith Downtown Chapel, 925 S. 27th St. The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 14, at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 409 S. 36th St., with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the Pilgrim Congregational Church, Big Sky Hospice or a charity of your choice.
