Anna M. (Murphy) McCarthy, 88, of Monastery Avenue died peacefully Wednesday at the Governor’s Center surrounded by her family. Anna was born in Springfield the daughter of Patrick J. and Margaret (Hegarty) Murphy, grew up in the Exposition area of West Springfield and has lived here all her life. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School and worked in the office of Ray Sweeney Insurance Agency for many years. She was a communicant and regular attendee of St. Jude’s Novena at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Church and longtime member of the Deadline Gang. She was predeceased by her husband George J. McCarthy in 2014. She leaves a son Michael and his wife Ellen of West Springfield, a daughter Maureen Cusick and her husband Mark of Framingham, her beloved granddaughter Keira McCarthy; a brother Thomas P. “Tim” Murphy of Agawam and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her brother John Murphy and sister Rita Sweeney. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Tuesday at 9:00am with Liturgy in St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Church at 10:00am followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.
