Anna Leona “Polly” Shatney, 84, of Greensboro Bend died on March 21, 2008 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
She was born on March 1, 1924 in Highgate a daughter of Joseph and Bessie “Sartwell” Lampherre.
On June 3, 1943 she married Carroll Shatney who survives her.
Polly was a homemaker and worked on the family farm along with her husband and family.
Polly loved her children, grandchildren, going to fairs and showing cattle, and cooking with her grandchildren. In 2002, she was inducted into the American Highland Cattle Hall of Fame. She loved her husband of almost 65 years.
She was a lifetime member with the Northeast Highland Cattle Association and the Mid Atlantic Cattle Association.
Polly is survived by her sons: Earl Shatney and his wife Wilma of East Hardwick, Leo Shatney of Greensboro Bend, Arthur Shatney and his wife Laurie of Middlesex, Ray Shatney and his partner Janet Steward of Greensboro Bend, and Steve Shatney and his wife Christine of Greensboro Bend, and by her 12 cherished grandchildren: Mitchell, Jeffrey, Terrie and her husband Keven, Sandy and her husband Michael, Heather and her husband Brian, Brent, Kelley and her husband Matt, Stacey and her husband David, Amber, Daniel, Trevor, and Matthew, and also by her cherished great grandchildren: Trey, Lillie, Nathan, Ashley, Tyler, Riley Ann, Taylor, Philip, Hunter, and Cole. She is also survived by her twin brother Leonard Lamphere of Lowell, and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two grandsons Gregory and Scott, one great grandson Ryan, two sisters Alice Gillian and Mary Smith, and two brothers Jay and George Lamphere.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday March 26, 2008 at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, 12 Elm Street, Barton with the Rev. Ernest Macey officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 AM until the hour of the funeral service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Spring interment will be held at the family farm in Greensboro Bend.
