YOUNG, Anna Maria - Of Flint, age 78, died Friday, April 2, 2021 at her residence.


A memorial visitation will be held 12-6pm on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Immediately following at 6pm will be a Celebration of Life with sharing of memories.


Due to Covid-19 and government regulations, only 25 people will be allowed in the chapel at one time. Mask, group capacity and distancing guidelines must be practiced.


Anna was born during WWII in Fiume, Italy on August 29, 1942, the daughter of the late Armando and Olga (Maslo) Avanzini. She experienced communism as a child and moved to Verona, Italy with her family and later moved to America in her 20’s. To gain her U.S. citizenship, Anna began working as a beautician and massage therapist. Anna fell in love with the freedom of the United States and felt blessed to live here. She was a true patriot. Anna was fluent in Italian and English, among many other languages. Later in life, Anna worked as a social worker for 15 years. Some of her hobbies consisted of swimming, gardening and traveling. She enjoyed classical and opera music and was a wonderful cook. Anna was a devout Catholic and in recent years, she came to know and embrace the Mormon faith. She had a passionate love for God. Anna formed friendships with everyone; once you met her, you’d never forget her. She was well-rounded and exposed her children to a diverse life. She was also the best Nonna to her 2 grandchildren. Anna was a beautiful soul that will be greatly missed.

Children, Francesca (Keith) Lutz and Christian Young;


Grandchildren, Jonah and Micah Lutz;


Sister, Dianella Avanzini;


Twin-sister, Livia Avanzini;


Nephews, Camillo and Phillip;


Niece, Monica;


And great-niece, Julia.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard H. Young.

Sorry to hear aunt Anna passed. April second is the birthday of my oldest daughter, so likely I won't forget this. All my memories of her are based around her children's birthday parties when we were younger. Hope Christian and Francesca the best in these sad times.
