Not sure what to say?

I just found out about Anne's passing. It was a privilege and honor to have known Anne during my time as a Student at Ferrum College, and while I served as a Minister in the Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church. I remember her great humor and laugh that carried forth in our conversations.
Her commitment to Ferrum College was walked out in the dealings she had with each of the Students whom she impacted. Her love of God was obvious, as was her love of life.

I feel fortunate that my career at Ferrum overlapped with the devoted service of Anne Acey and Faye Wood. They set an example of commitment and integrity that serve as models to their colleagues and students, even today. For me, they are the embodiment of the Ferrum College motto: not self, but others.

What I will remember most about Anne is her joie de vivre and her indomitable sense of humor. Even after her retirement, when I would run into her and Faye in Roanoke-area...

To Faye Wood and other friends and family of Anne Acey

It was a pleasure to have known her and helped in her care. She was a kind and brave lady, loved by everyone who knew her. May she rest in peace, and may fond memories of her remain in our thoughts and prayers.

I stood beside her once at the Ferrum Chapel when the hymn was "it is well with my soul". I still remember it thirty years later. I thought I had never heard a voice that beautiful. Then I thought, "how can anyone with such a beautiful voice have Miss Acey's laugh?" She was great. I loved her father and remember when Bishop Goodwin preached his funeral as a special tribute to Dr. Acey. The Bishop saluted Dr. Acey at the end. Only Bishop Goodwin could pull this off but it was terrifically...

I worked with Anne at Ferrum College for several years, and I will always remember her tremendous sense of humor and wonderful laugh. She was such a joy to be around and always found a way to brighten everyone's day. We will always remember and think of her with a smile.

I had the privilege of working with Anne at Ferrum College many years ago. She was a very special person and will be missed by her many friends.

We will cherish always fond memories of Anne's compassion, humor, intelligence and zest for living. Whenever we look out across the lawn we can picture her bouncing along on her mower wearing her big straw hat and an even bigger smile.

Her strife is o'er, her battle done; the victory of life is won;her song of triuimph has begun: Alleluia!
We thank God for our dear sister in Christ.
