Anne Mooney Bridgewater
Anne Bridgewater, 82, of Crozet, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, October 5, 2011. Anne Bridgewater was born on December 13, 1928, in Charlottesville, Virginia, daughter of the late John Dewey and Clara Mayfield Mooney. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Frank M. Bridgewater Jr. She was a graduate of Lane High School and a member of choir and the Glee Club. She worked as a bookkeeper for Brunk Mechanical for close to 20 years and at Page Foster's Men's Clothing Store. Anne is survived by her daughter, Kay Giuseppe of Richmond, Virginia; her daughter, Ellen Buckin and her son-in-law, Rick Bucklin of Kannapolis, North Carolina; her daughter, Lisa Mashaw and her son-in-law, Jay Mashaw of Richmond, Virginia; her daughter, Amy Smith of Charlottesville, Virginia; and her son, Nelson Bridgewater and her daughter-in-law, Karen Bridgewater, of Richmond, Virginia. She is also survived by a sister, Martha Welch of Missouri and a brother, Pat Mooney of California. She was also the loving and proud grand-mother and great-grand-mother to David and Sandra, Keith and Becky, and Paul Bucklin, Paige and Jake Mashaw, Bryce, Sydney, and Keifer Bucklin. Anne had a great love of books and enjoyed creating her own home library which was open to all. She was a master at working crossword puzzles, and serving afternoon tea with her friends. Her friends say she was "the last of the grand old dames." The family would like to thank the following people for their extended support through their mother's illness, "adopted daughter and sister" Kristen Crouse; "adopted son and brother" Benny Powell; Martha Campbell, Barbara O'Donnell, Larry and Gale Hughes, Linda McCauley, and Mae Hazelwood. In addition, the family wants to thank the Hospice of the Piedmont and specifically the tender care provided by Marissa Minnerly, Edna Lumley, Erminia Janabio, and Dr. Lily Hargrove. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Teague Funeral Home.
