Anne Caulfield Obituary

Anne Marie Caulfield, 89, resident of Bedford, NH, passed away unexpectedly on September 13, 2024, at the Elliot Hospital, Manchester NH.

Anne was born on September 15, 1934, the daughter of the late Joseph M. and Josephine (Ward) O' Connor. She was raised and educated in Brookline, MA, and graduated from Brookline High School.

Anne married John (or Jack as he was known by to most) Caulfield in 1956 and together they raised four children in Brookline before moving to Amherst NH in 1980, and settling in Bedford NH in 1987, where she has spent the last 37 years. She held several varied positions in her career, the longest being her time with New England Telephone.

Anne was active in politics, campaigning for both local and statewide candidates, and served on Brookline's school committee. She loved to spend the day at the beach with her family down the Cape, in Ipswich, on the Vineyard, and in Saco. She enjoyed tennis, reading, golf, time with her bridge club, watching her grandsons run and play hockey, and entertaining. She cherished her local community of Bedford and everyone in it that made it special. She was devoted to her faith and was a longtime active member of St. Elizabeth Seton Parish in Bedford.

Anne was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jack, of 65 years, in 2022, as well as her two brothers, Paul and Joseph O' Connor. She will be forever loved and remembered by her children; Lisa Caulfield of Nashua NH, Gail Caulfield of Manchester NH, her son John & daughter-in-law Mary Caulfield of Durham NH, her daughter Leslie & son-in-law A.J. Roberto of Bedford NH, her grandchildren, Thomas, Neville, Jay, Parker, Owen, Dalton, & Tucker, her niece Cathy, & her nephews Robert, Paul, Michael, and Kevin, her ever faithful four-footed companion Coco who helped her take care of Jack, and her close friends and neighbors in Bedford.

Anne had a smile and warm presence that would light up any room she entered and touched the lives of all she met. She cherished time spent with family and friends and always radiated a timeless beauty from within that went beyond her years.

Special thanks to the Bedford EMT's and the dedicated staff at the Elliot. A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, October 17th at 10:00am at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Road, Bedford NH. A private burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made in our mother's memory to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. I came to your house a couple of times with Lisa in the early 70s. We walked there after school from BHS. I remember being awed by the fact that you and your husband met in high school and stayed together. You were the matriarch of the loving family that I coveted. I wish I was able to tell you all this, but I moved away from new england early in my life. You did a beautiful job with your daughter, Lisa. She is a really good friend to me.
