Anne Marie Cunningham, 92

Anne Marie Cunningham (nee. Fitzpatrick), age 92 of Havertown, PA. surrounded by her family went peacefully to be with the Lord, Tuesday, February 22, 2022.

Anne was born March 27, 1929 and raised in Schuylkill section of Philadelphia by parents Anna (Manning) and Charles (Fitzpatrick). She attended Saint Patrick’s grade school and graduated from John W. Hallahan High School in 1947. Anne lived in Havertown, PA for the last 13 years.

Anne worked at Yellow Cab, Pepper’s Pharmacy, Rite Aid, Delaware County Memorial hospital and retired from Daylesford Abbey in 2008.

Anne married her high school sweetheart, Michael in 1949. Together, Mike and Anne built a large Irish, Catholic family. She was the heart of the family and taught us God is always with us, the power of prayer for self (Angel of God) and for others.  Her gift to all was her strong faith, daily prayer that centered around Annunciation BVM Parish, daily mass, rosary group, and a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother.

Her life centered around her faith and family, Harvard Road, family dinners, backyard BBQs, summers at the Jersey shore and Corolla N.C., Darby and later Karakung swim clubs.  Anne loved family events, weddings where she was first on the dance floor, the births of grandchildren and great grandchildren, Gram’s Christmas celebration and the Cunningham Thanksgiving reunions. Anne enjoyed lifelong childhood friendships with her Golden Girls and her sister Eleanore.

Anne was a loving wife, mother of nine children. She is predeceased by her loving husband Michael J. Cunningham Sr. and survived by her loving family; sister Eleanore Jordan, nine children; Michael J. Jr (Florence) Cunningham, Patrick J. (Joan) Cunningham, Annemarie J. (John) Haskins, Margaret M. (Thomas) Wilt, Sharon M. Delaney (John Harvison), Kevin J. (Donna) Cunningham, Colleen A. (James) Hunt, Joseph P. (Teresa) Cunningham, Kathleen E. (Matthew) Mowatt.

Not sure what to say?

Grammie, we will always cherish your love, happiness, guidance, and faith. Your smile lit up a room! I read that Anne Marie means "beloved," and "grace." You shared your faith so gracefully with everyone. When we think of prayer, we think of you and that gives us so much strength. Thank you for this beautiful family, we are so grateful for the time we had with you and the love you gave. Keep dancing up there with Grandpop. Love you for always, Gram. Rest in Peace. All our love, Bridget,...

Anne was my Friend for 90 years. She and her sister Eleanor lived a few doors down from me on Naudaine St in Schuykill , Philadelphia, PA in 1930, before moving around the block to Lombard St. We were, along with Jane Erskine and Betty Payne, known as the "Fearless Five" (a name we christened ourselves) in our teenage years. We were classmates , first grade thru high school. Then wedding bells broke up that old gang of ours. How rare to have four friends carry on into their nineties. ...

Mom,May your light continue to shine in our lives. Thanks for your endless love in our lives. Sharon & John

Mom, your spirit lives on in the legacy you built. Faith based family you taught us to pray and to live a life in Christ. Your devotion to our Blessed Mother and your daily rosary helped many people through rough times in life. You taught me I would never be alone, God alway would be at my side. You also taught me to enjoy dancing and you took much joy in “cutting a rug” on the dance floor. I know you are in Dad’s arms dancing the time away, love of your life. You are home in the Lord. ...

ANNE CUNNINGHAM (GRAM)
Gram was a huge part of my life, and still is. I remember during Gram’s Christmas party every year; she would have a look of contentment and happiness on her face while she watched all the younger grandchildren and great-grandchildren open their Christmas gifts from her. I just remember thinking to myself that is what brought joy to her during that time of year, giving to others. This is what...
