Not sure what to say?

Mrs. Gratz was my beloved 5th grade teacher at Webster Elementary School, Easton Pennsylvania. I have thought about her off and on all these years (60 years and counting!). She is truly memorable. Kind and respectful to all.

I had the pleasure of working with Mrs. Gratz when I first started teaching at Cheston Elementary. She would retire just two years later, but she made a real impression on me in that brief time. She had high expectations for her students and a no-nonsense approach, and they knew she genuinely cared for them. She was loved and respected by students and colleagues alike. I can still hear her delightful southern drawl! My deepest sympathy to your family in your loss.

Mrs. Gratz was my 6th grade teacher at Webster school and I looked forward to going to school to be with her everyday. She did so many special things with us and for us. I wanted to be just like her when I grew up. I recently retired after 30+ years of teaching elementary school. Thank you, Mrs. Gratz.

I didn't know Mema for as long as I would have liked, but I know she didn't take any gruff. She passed that special quality on to her sons, who have taken her spark, her no-nonsense attitude, and her sense of humor to new heights- passing her love and life lessons on to their own children. Mema's legacy shines bright in all her beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and for this, we are all extremely grateful. Thank you, Mema. And thank you Gratz family, for all of your...

Dearest Gratz Family,

I am very sorry for your loss. Mema and Granddaddy were always so gracious to house us for Spring Break. I always felt like part of the family with her gentle reminders to wear sunscreen, pack a lunch and beware of boys. Her southern charm was infectious. A wink and smile and we would ditch Clearwater Beach for the early bird special everytime.

You are all in my thoughts and prayers, especially the Michigan Gratzs. My sincerest sympathies, Rebecca...

Rest in peace, Mema. We love you so much.

I have so many fond memories of Mrs. Gratz at Webster Elementary School on Easton's South Side. She was special. We were a small community of kids. I was in the last 5th grade class to attend Webster and she was part of that transition process to "Ada B." Cheston School. She prepared us for that big move to the larger more modern complex.

I can still remember her small reading groups, her spelling quizes, and her love of art. She inspired us to be leaders.
