I have fond memories of "Mrs. Mercer": as my girl scout leader and the mom of my childhood friend, Ann. She was the epitome of a lady, always ready with a smile and a kind word. Ann, I send my deepest sympathy and love.

Nancy and Blair were life-long friends of my mother and step-father, Jean and Bonner Bentley. Nancy Mercer came to my family's needs several times with her amazing organizational skills as she deftly brought order to chaos with moves and major social events. And she did it effortlessly.

I made a point to see her weekly at Monticello West where she was always in a board or card game of some sort. And knowing her, she was winning as well.

Although I had known her daughter ever
since I was in the seventh grade at what was then called Highland Park Junior High School, and I talked with
Mrs Mercer several times on the phone in the late 1960s and early 1970s when
I had news for Ann regarding our old
classmates, I finally got to meet her
one time at the old Safeway Grocery Store in the Highland Park Village the
day before Christmas Eve in 1988. She was a delight to talk with and remembered about...
