Dear Claire, Julie, Vicky and Chuck,
I am so sorry to learn of the passing of your wonderful mother, and am especially sorry to have missed her funeral. It is deeply tragic for you all to experience the loss of both parents in one short summer, but I trust you are finding tremendous comfort and support from the many, many people whose lives were greatly influenced by both Anne and Jack. I count myself among those. Our mothers' friendship began in college, and I loved hearing the tales of their antics together, two gals from Western Maryland who just happened to find each other at Towson State. I am truly blessed that your entire family has been such a special part of my life. I know you all will good care of each other and your beautiful families through these difficult times. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Much love to all,

I so enjoyed working with Anne at Old Post Road! She was a fantastic librarian - a wonderful storyteller and a great teacher resource person. We sorely missed her when she retired. I was fortunate to know your dad, also, through the many faculty social gatherings. What a lovely couple they were. I shall keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. Kathy Cordner (Lewes, DE)

I was unaware of Anne's passing and also unaware of Jack's passing. We had so much fun together when our faculty at OPR wasn't quite so big. Anne was such a good friend to me when I came as a new teacher. I admired her skill with children and must admit that I stole some of her methods. She was a great storyteller and I wanted to be like her. Tom and I had lunch with she and Jack in Lewes a few years ago but lost touch after that . I regret that. I am so sorry that you've lost your Mom and Dad, but you will always have so many great memories. Anne's family meant everything to her.

Claire, Julie, Vickie, and Chucky,
I am so sorry to hear about your mom passing away, and so close to your losing your Dad. I feel so fortunate to have known both your mom and dad, all of you. Your Mom made quite an impression on me at a young age. Growing up, I wasn't exposed to many working women in my parents circle. Your Mom was one of the few role models around, showing us how to be a working mom. She did it with style, grace, and let's not forget humor. Really, just wonderful, wonderful people your mom and Dad. They really set the bar high. I am so glad you are all so close and have each other to hold on to. The Smith's are thinking of you all and remembering your Mom and Dad with lots of love.

So very sorry to hear of Anne's passing. We worked together at Riverside and I remember her fondly. Her sense of humor will be what I remember most. We teased each other endlessly. She was the consummate librarian.

I remember Mrs. Schilling as the librarian at Essex Elementary School when I was there as a student in the late 1950's and early '60s. She was so helpful and patient when helping me "not judge a book by its cover"! I am still an avid reader and Mrs.Schilling will be remembered fondly for helping foster my love of a good book!
My condolences to her family and friends on the passing of this kind woman.
