Anne Twarogowski was the first "modern" lady in my life. I first came to know her as her daughter Lory's childhood friend in the 1950's when children stood outside a house and "sang" for the playmate to come outside to play. That was at a time when most neighborhood moms stayed home, but Lory's mom had an important job at the VA Hospital. Very few women drove cars in those days but of course Lory's mom did.
