Not sure what to say?

She was a wonderful role model to us (young college students out in the world for the first time!

Annette was a wonderful friend during our years in Easton. Music, food and wisdom from the elders!

I was a student at DeSales University during Dr. Benert’s tenure. She was a passionate and enthusiastic instructor.

I’m so sorry to hear of her passing. Prayers for her family and loved ones.

I fondly remember Dr. Benert as a student at then Allentown College. I had her class during my first semester and she helped put this nervous freshman at ease. She was a wonderful teacher that made me feel my opinions counted and encouraged me to explore my voice in the world. She helped shape us all in her classroom and I am forever grateful to have had her in my life. My deepest sympathy to her family.

Annette was a friend of long standing going back to the days of Allentown College (now DeSales University). She was a regular at my spring Garden Parties held in Springtown. she, of coursed brought a variety of foods for us all to enjoy but one year she brought a harpsichord for a group sing. We got out the candles and as the house was built in the 18th century, the effect was magical. Of all my memories of her that is the most powerful and enchanting .

I am deeply saddened to hear of Dr. Benert's passing. She was my advisor at DSU and had several classes with her. She was truly a remarkable person and educator who was a huge influence on my academic and teaching career. She was tough on my writing, but it only made me a better writer and thinker. I am forever thankful for that as I try to instill that in all of my students. I'll never forget the times I would go to her for drafts, advising conferences, or just a quick pop-in to say hi...

I am saddened to see Dr. Benert has passed away. Yet, a flood of wonderful memories come to mind from my years as a student at DeSales University. Dr. Benert was my academic advisor as well as one of my teachers in the English department. She truly cared about her students and always made time to listen when we needed to talk. In class she made us step out of our shell and speak up. She was also always there with motherly advice when I needed someone to talk to when my own mother was...

Dr. Benert was my advisor from 2002-2006 at DeSales University and I took several of her classes while a student earning my B.A. in English. I am so grateful for all she taught me and for the guidance she gave me, which eventually helped me realize that I wanted to pursue law school instead of teaching. She only ever encouraged me, and helped me figure out my classes so that I could earn my English and Criminal Justice degrees. I vividly remember her love of gardening and her fondness for...

Annette was a dear friend and mentor, a lovely generous woman who will be greatly missed. I sat so many times in her house with friends and colleagues, talking about art and literature and gender studies, religion, sociology and she approached it all with warmth and good humor.
