Eckersell Funeral Home (Eckersell Memorial Chapel) Obituary

Our beloved Annette Stephens Burger (76) passed away peacefully on January 6th in Rigby, Idaho where she lived with her husband Richard Burger (80), the love of her life, with whom she recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.

Having bravely fought a surprise cancer diagnosis, Annette is now resting peacefully. In her final moments, Annette was supported by her devoted husband and caring children; Tom (Jan) Burger, Betsy (Jason) Cherry, Erik (Shirley) Burger, and Andrew (Nicole) Burger.

A devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Annette graciously shared her life by loving and serving those around her – taking pride in her accomplishments, especially as a skilled homemaker. Annette stayed busy in her final years pursuing various artistic activities – from jewelry making to embroidery, Annette was always mastering new ways to create special items imbued with meaning for her loved ones. Annette’s favorite activity was quilting – having made beautiful quilts for each of her children’s weddings and for many of her grandchildren. A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Annette shared her testimony through her example and unwavering love.

Annette is survived by her brother Grant (Donna) Stephens, Robert (Wendy) Stephens, Linda (Daniel) Portillo Meniz, Kathy (Keith) Harrow, Gary (Michelle) Stephens and brother-in-law Bill (Kathy) Burger and sister-in-law Judy Brown. In addition, Annette is survived by her stepmother Lynn Stephens.

One of the greatest joys in Annette’s life was her 24 grandchildren. She loved each grandchild deeply and individually and will be doing whatever she can to help them from the other side. She was also the great-grandmother of 18 beautiful great-grandchildren.

Not sure what to say?

Annette, sister to my dear friend Linda. She will be remembered for her kindness, faith, gentle humour and that twinkling smile of hers! All the Ursenbach Girls: Jeanne, Patricia, Lynne, Anne & Cyndi send our fond regards and sympathy.

Richard and family. So sorry to hear about Annette’s passing. Our prayers are with you. John & Chris.

From the first time I met Annette, I knew we were going to be friends. She was most beautiful, she just had a special kind heart and I loved her beautiful red hair and smile. Her voice was tender and soft and was always willing to be of help. She had a strong testimony of our Savior and it showed. I watched how Richard would be by her side, making sure she was being taken care of. I sure love you Annette and Richard, so grateful of our many years of friendship and love. Thank you Annette for...

It seems the years have flown since we were backdoor neighbors, Richard. I have such fond memories of those years! Annette was such a good friend and such a giving one; she was a great example to me. I always admired how kind and caring you both were with your grandsons. I'm sorry to hear she's had so many health problems. I pray that you'll find comfort and peace in your memories. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

My dear, sweet sister-in-law, Annette. I loved you when I first met you over 50 years ago. I couldn't figure out how my brother was able to catch your eye, let alone marry you! Although we didn't have close contact over these many years, when we were together it was as if it had only been a day. You always made me feel warm and valued. You had the sweetest sense of humor that always made me laugh. I always kidded you that you were a year younger than me, and therefore my "little" sister. Our...

She was a wonderful friend.

Sorry to hear of Annette's passing. You folks were always great neighbors. Richard, God bless your family and help all of you through these trying times. I'll pass the word to those 5th Sunset Ward members you knew who are still here.
