Annette Walter Celestine, 90, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Raceland, departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest at 6:05 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2014.
Relative and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Raceland, Dularge Community Baptist Church of Houma, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church at 168 Brocato Lane in Raceland, with Dr. Robert B. Pardo officiating. Burial will be in New St. Matthew's Cemetery in Houma. At the deceased's request there will be no viewing.
She was the loving mother of Leonard Jr. (Paulette) and Eddie (Gayle) Celestine, of Houma; Benjamin (Marie) and Jesse (Kimberiy) Celestine, of Beaumont, Texas, and Floyd Celestine, of Des Allemands; Audrey (the Rev. Robert) Pardo, of Avondale; Cecilia Celestine and Liza Ann (the Rev. Broderick) Smith, of Raceland; sister-in-law of Charley (Margarette) Livas and Lionel Jones, of Gray; Clara Nickerson, of Schriever; and aunt of Clara (Whitney) Edmonds, of Thibodaux; 34 grandchildren; 86 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sara Johnson and Anthony Walter; her husband of 59 years, the Rev. Leonard Celestine Sr.; brothers, Mack Campbell, Charlie, Manny and Ben Walter; sister, Mary Johnson; sons, Raymond Lee, Wilbert (Rhonda), and Mack Celestine; and daughter, Willie Mae (Sterling) Poindexter.
Community Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
