Mrs. Howitt was my piano teacher for six years, from 1976 - 1982. She was a wonderful teacher and fostered in me a love of music that has immeasurably enriched my life. She once took me and another of one her students to a performance by a local youth symphony orchestra. It was the first symphony concert I ever attended, and included a performance of Beethoven's 5th symphony, which made a lasting impression on me.
