Mrs Winter taught me first year French at John Gorrie Jr. High in Jacksonville Florida in 1960-61. She also taught Spanish - both with a definite southern accent. Now that I see she was from Mars Hill, I know where she got it as I have a summer home just north of there. She was a very kind and gracious lady. Teachers make such an imprint on our lives. Even though I am in my 70's I remember her clearly. Rest in peace.

Mrs. Winter was as though a teacher as they came. But, she also had a soft side, and she showed me much compassion. Even in the late 70s, she would not stand for bullies. Her room was a safe haven while she was in it, and she frequently let me come sit with her while waiting for a class or after school event. I will never ever forget her kindness, her support and and her love. Rest in peace dear lady. You are so very loved.

I was blessed to have her as an Occupational Therapy patient and dear friend following prayers for her family’s peace in knowing she is an angel of God

I have fond memories of Mrs. Winter. She was not only one of my favorite teachers but a great friend to our family. Great memories of families having cookouts in their backyard. We had some great conversations on Facebook after she moved to Kentucky. Heaven has gained a very sweet lady. Linda and Jimmy, I am so sorry for the loss of your Mother. She was such a sweet lady. Keeping your family in my prayers for comfort.
