On Tuesday, the Clock Broke
Anthony Hawkins always made sure that his day started with a laugh. At 5 a.m., he would rouse his mother, brother and sisters to watch reruns of his favorite comedy, "Good Times." He never missed it.

At 30, Anthony had settled into a life of comfortable routines. He always listened to hip-hop music while taking the subway to his job as a maintenance worker. He always picked up newspapers on his way home to Brooklyn, sharing them with his family. He always walked his mother to the market to buy the fixings for the Sunday dinner.

"He was the clock for our family," said his cousin, Byron Haynes. "He set the tone for the day." The only time that Anthony broke his routine, his cousin said, was when he did not come home on Tuesday. Like clockwork, he always stepped through the front door at 6 p.m.

Not sure what to say?

My name is Cheryl. I live in a small town Seneca Falls upstate NY. Our church St. Patrick´s made memorial stars with names of people affected on 9/11. I have 4 stars and Anthony´s is one of them. I have kept him and your family in my prayers . I still have his star. I keep it in the hutch in my kitchen. He will always be remembered. He did not die in vain. Sincere condolences and Love to you and your family.

While visiting the 9/11 Memorial on Mon (6/3/19), a friend of mine noticed a leaf stuck on the Memorial wall & when she went to remove it, noticed that it was stuck inside a letter of someone that I shared a last name with. I did a little online research and Anthony sounded like a great guy! Gone but never forgotten!!

In memory....

We sure have lost an angel of God. May we protect his heart and soul, just like he did for us. We will always love you Anthony. My heart and blessings go out to your family... always.

On September 11th I was saddened to learn that God had called you home. BA, we all miss you and will never forget you. Recently we enjoyed some video footage of you during happier times. We laughed and then became sad at the same time. I know you are keeping everyone smiling up in Heaven
