Not sure what to say?

Mr. De was one of that set of great teachers and coaches we were blessed to be taught by in the late 50's and early 60's at Mt. Pleasant. I have vivid memories of Mr. De coaching us awkward would be football linemen during my freshman year and equally vivid recollections of his 10th grade Biology class. To lub-dub that so many recall, I add "proto-wha? - "proto-plasm!" Thank you Mr. De and all you other wonderful coaches and teachers at MPHS. You did very well by us all.

I regret the passing of Mr. D. He was a very memorable teacher and coach. Chloro-wha? Chloro-wha? Chloro-wha? Chloro-phil! And I remember well: "If that's your idea of education, you're way out in left field!" He always wanted the best for/from us. RIP
JIMM COX '62

In the Fall of '67 Mr D interviewed me for a position on the Green Knights Science staff. Even during the interview, I was hoping that I'd be part of his staff, he was so warm, genuine and professional. My 17 years having him as my mentor remain precious to me. Sunday Mass at St. Helena's with my 3 kids, and seeing the Mr D smile, with his lovely wife Marie, are indelible memories. Rest in Peace, Gentle Man. And deepest sympathies to Franny and the rest of the De Angelis Family.

I am so sad to hear this news. Mr. DeAngelis played an enormous role in arousing my own interest in biochemistry, which (in various manifestations) has been my career for the past 45 years. He made a concerted effort to present us with the latest revolutionary discoveries then talking place in molecular biology. He mentioned once that he had taken a summer refresher course and brought that new information to our classroom. I recall that (circa 1964) he took a group of us students to hear...

Biology was NOT a favorite subject of mine - but for Mr. D! Hey Kiddo - quit Mickey Mousing around!
Deoxy Nucleic WHAT?!? What is this (dumb) stuff called DNA?!?
Rest in Peace, sir. You were an awesome instructor!
Class of '88

I had Mr. D for biology in 1962. I can still smell that formaldehyde shark in the lab!

I had Mr. D. for AP Biology my sophomore year ('75-'76) and graduated '78. He was a great teacher and I went on to study medicine and become a physician. He will be fondly remembered. Thoughts and prayers are with the family in your time of loss.

Mr. D was my biology teacher at MPHS class of 1968. He was a really good teacher - funny, entertaining and a nice guy. RIP Mr. D.

Mr. D inspired me to love science and scientific research in particular. Several of us had cancer experiments involving rats, while we were at Mt. Pleasant. Most of our work was done before and after school--and Mr. D was always there working with us. Hard to know how many lives he touched, but he will be sorely missed.
