Anthony P. Baccaro
Springfield, Pennsylvania

Springfield, Pennsylvania
Anthony Baccaro of Springfield, PA passed away on November 19, 2012, at age 84. He was born in Perth Amboy, NJ but returned to Italy as a young child with his parents and grew up in the mountain village of Roccamandolfi, which is in the Province of Molise. He was raised predominately by his mother, Lucia, due to his father's untimely death and they were devoted to each other. The Italian war years galvanized his formative education and during that entire strife he never forgot that he was an American citizen nor lost a passion for the country of his birth. And when the Second World War concluded, he reentered freely into the United States as a very young man with only a dream of bettering himself. For years he worked as a presser at Freedman and Modern coat shop. It was there that he met his future business partner, Dante Pandolfi, and together they opened up the retail flooring company, House of Carpets in Springfield, PA; which has been in continuous operation for over half a century. He was the true embodiment of the ideal of turning adversity into success and his spirit, drive and compassion will be sorely missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Alice (nee Jimenez); his sons, Anthony and Richard, his daughters-in-law, sylvie and Jenine and his loving grandchildren, Gaetana and Giancarlo. Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing, Saturday, 10 to 12 Noon at the D'Anjolell Memorial Home of Broomall, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008. Funeral Mass at 12:30 PM at St. Kevins' Church. Interment SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
