O. L. Hughes and Sons Mortuary - Lexington Obituary

CARTER, Anthony "Tony” was born August 2, 1952 and passed away on Thursday, February 18 2021, at the age of 68. He was the third child of the late Eugene Carter, Jr. and Lillian Harbut Carter. Tony accepted Christ at an early age, and was a faithful and devoted member of Maddoxtown Baptist Church whom enjoyed singing in the choir.  He truly lived the scripture Joshua 24:15, leading his house with the charge of serving God first in all things. Tony graduated from Henry Clay High School in 1971, and retired from Lexmark after 25 years of service.   He was a true outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting with family and friends.  You could catch him on any warm day sitting on a bucket at the banks of one of his favorite watering holes, many times feeding the fish instead of catching them.  He was a huge UK fan who looked forward to the rival game between UK and TN - of which his grandson is an avid fan. He was a lover of God, and valued nothing above his family – always there for any reason at any time.  Tony is survived by his lovely wife Beverly E Carter; one uncle, Melvin (Maria) Carter of New Jersey; eight siblings: Phyllis (Richard) Greene; Brenda Crenshaw (Darnell Sr.) of Louisville, KY; Eugene (Lois) Carter III; Gwendolyn Carter; Newland (Shirley) Carter; Mark (Vicki) Carter Sr.; Tina (Kim) Stevenson; and Vivian Talbert; two children Brian (Harreshea) Carter; Carolyn (fiancé Brian) Jones; 4 grandchildren; Ametrius (Shawnica) Carter; Kayne Groves; Adante Carter; Chris Murphy; 3 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends to cherish his memory.  He is loved by many and will be greatly missed by all.
