My name is Val Perkins and I had the distinct pleasure of being Mr. Lapham's boat captain operating out of Northeast Harbor on the Island of Mt.Desert. He loved the coastal region and the ecosystem of the Maine Coastal Islands. In the 6 summers that I worked for him, we covered from east to west, a region extending from Roque Island to Vinalhaven. I wish to extend my deepest sympathies to the Lapham family for the unexpected loss of their beloved, husband, father, brother, and grandfather. I was fortunate to know and work with Tony Lapham during my tenure at American Rivers. He was a great man and will be sorely missed by many. I hold the Lapham family in my thoughts and prayers.
