Not sure what to say?

So sorry to hear about Tony's passing. I think Tony was the oldest member of our veterinary class of 1973, and the younger guys would rely on his wisdom and ask him many questions. I will always remember his gentle voice and how kind he was. I thought it was amazing that anyone could study and make it through veterinary school with 6 kids at home and of course eventually having 13! May God grant you peace for you Marianne and the rest of your family. Tony was special.

I just heard of Tony's passing today .Tony was a classmate of mine in vet school at OSU, class of '73 . When I learned of Tony's passing it sure brought back many fond memories of our time in school . He was a kind , gentle man and it was a privilege to have known him. May God give the Matthews family strength during this time of loss.

Tony was a classmate of mine in veterinary medical school. He was a wonderful friend, a man who truly lived a righteous life. Whenever I saw him at gatherings, after graduation, he was always a beacon of enthusiasm.
Having just discovered his passing today, the loss is fresh. My sympathies go out to all of Tonys family.

Dr. Matthews wife Marianne and his late mother-in-law Mrs. Virginia St. John will always be cherished friends of mine. Both spoke of him very highly and with great affection. The Matthews and St. John families have my deepest sympathy during this time of sadness. May God give you peace and comfort as you grieve the loss of your loved one.

This man has left a legacy of memories with so many people in addition to his own family. I have never met someone with the calm and patience and compassion as Dr. Matthews. He took care of all the stray dogs and cats that I fostered and sometimes adopted. One thing I will always remember..I brought in a stray toy collie mix I found on the side of I-280. She had a broken pelvis and Doc x-rayed her in addition to a few shots..at no charge. I already had my own animals he took care of and I...

Isaac and family, I am sorry for your loss. Your father was such a fixture in the Stritch community. May god bless you all.

What a kind, caring, compassionate vet! No one quite like him! Always willing to go above and beyond when there was an emergency with one of our pets! He will truly be missed!

RIP Dr. Matthews. You were a real mensch. Your love and compassion is a great loss to this world. Wishing much strength to Dr. Matthews wife and children.
