Anthony “Tony” E. Mazzini, 83 of Des Plaines, IL passed away in his home on Sunday, January 5, 2020.
He was born February 14, 1936 in Florence, Italy to Erasmo and Carmen Mazzini. He was united in marriage to his beloved, Pamela A. Bailey on February 14, 1984.
After coming to the United States in 1960, Tony was quickly drafted into the United States Army proudly serving his country until 1967. Tony graduated from Roosevelt University in Chicago with a Masters in Clinical Psychology. He retired from Chicago Lakeshore Hospital on 9/23/11 after 41 years of tireless service as a Clinical Social Worker.
Tony and Pam raised a wonderful son; Anthony (Tony) E. Anderson, 40, an attorney with Price Waterhouse Coopers in Chicago. “Little” Tony was “Big” Tony’s most joyful role; dad.
Tony was a passionate reader and writer. He was a published author of his book, “Poems of Misery and Love,” in 1996. A lover of all the arts, Tony was also an actor with the Ted Sarantos Studios for many years. Additionally, Tony was a prolific painter with many of his pieces sold and shown throughout the Chicago area. When Tony was not engaged in the world of art he loved spending time with his three grandchildren.
Tony and Pam had a very special love for each other. Always together, always holding hands.
Tony is survived by his wife, Pamela A. Mazzini. His son Anthony (Korrin) Anderson and their children: Brady, Colby and Acey. His brother in-law Stephen (Lorrie) Bailey, and their children: Briana (Peter) Singer, Brigitte. Sister in-law, Mary Beth (Randy) Williams. Brother in-law, Greg Olson and his children: Taylor and Bailey.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws; Ed and Ann Bailey and his sister in-law, Barbara Olson.
A mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at Saint Raymond of Penafort Catholic Church in Mount Prospect, IL. The Very Reverend Dr. Scott Hebden will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 am until the time of the Mass.
In lieu of flowers it is respectfully requested a donation be made to the Kellogg Cancer Center in Evanston, IL.
