I'm Free Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free I'm following the path God laid for me I took his hand when I heard him call.

Anthony Lee Owens, 57, departed his life on Monday, August 30, 2021. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Owens; brothers, Troy and Carl Owens; in-laws, Robert and Hattie Saunders; and brothers-in-law, Gerald Saunders and Joseph Turner.

He was educated in the Roanoke City Public Schools. He attended Patrick Henry High School and upon graduation he joined the United States Army as an Communication Specialist and received an honorable discharge. He served tours in Korea, Gulf War and Operation Desert Storm. He received numerous accolades and military performance awards. Anthony worked for Sam's Club for 25 yrs as an forklift operator before becoming ill.

Anthony was a genorous and kind and loved by all. Anthony taught by example: Words like honesty, loyalty, courage, faith and bravery words he instilled in you.

Rejoicing in a life well lived and cherishing the memories of Anthony, daughter, Lashanda Owens; sisters, Terri and Clarice Owens; brother, Tyrone (Deneise) Owens, Bobby (Cindy), David (Dottie), Jeffrey (Norma), Carolyn Turner, Andre (Lori), Terrence (Shanta) Saunders, Cynthia Callis (Larry), Teresa Brown (Derrick), Donna Owens (former wife), and Martha Saunders, and a host of nieces and nephews, and friends.
