Gethers Funeral Home - Moncks Corner Obituary

Anthony Renard Adkinson lived a full life in 52 short years.

Anthony was born on January 18, 1971 in Charleston, South Carolina, to Willie “Sonny” Adkinson and Jewnette Heyward Adkinson of Moncks Corner, SC. On Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 3:08 p.m., he was summoned by God’s heavenly angels under the care of Trident Medical Center, North Charleston, SC.

Nard received his education in the Berkeley County Public School System. Every Sunday morning, his grandmother made sure he attended Sunday School at Nazareth Reformed Episcopal Church in the West End Community of Moncks Corner, where he spent a lot of his childhood.

After graduating high school in 1989, he entered the United States Army where he served his country honorably in the “Desert Storm” War.

When he returned home after serving his country, he became a certified forklift driver.

Nard was the fun-loving, always joking uncle and friend.

Nard was preceded in death by his father, Willie “Sonny” Adkinson.

He leaves to cherish fond memories: his mother, Jewnette H. Adkinson; his children, Adjon’i Miller of Phoenix City, AL, Christian and Jenarah Adkinson both of Orangeburg, SC; his brothers, Joseph Romero Heyward (Ilesa), Horace Ronald Heyward and Tony Sims (Latechia); a devoted sister, Romona Adkinson-Shaheed (Omar); a special cousin, Julian Doyle; two great friends, Michael Tye Brown and Norman Ransom; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023, 11:00 a.m., at Nazareth Reformed Episcopal Church, 145 West End Drive, Moncks Corner, SC. Viewing will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home. The service will be live streamed on the funeral home's Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/gethersfh
