Not sure what to say?

I worked with your dad at KABL radio 1986-87. I was thinking about him tonite because my wife and I ate at Lafarallita. Your dad was the first to tell me about this burrito place over 25 years ago. I remember reading your dad's obit when he died and breathing a big sigh. He was a class act and a consummate gentleman. An incredibly nice guy. Like another entrant I as well was at your brothers funeral, I work in Oakland now and often pass the church - it always reminds me of your dad. I hope...

To the children of Tony Salazar: I recall asking your father to share what made him the happiest...he said it was his children..and he shared that, when you were small, being able to peek in on you as you slept at night was a reassuring comfort--knowing he was keeping you safe and sound, opening the door to the fridge and seeing that there was food for the family--this made him happy and fulfilled. He shared in brief, heartfelt terms how the tragic loss of your brother tore a piece of his...

This is awfully late, BUT: I just found out about Tony's death on Mar 31, 2008. I am totally shocked, as we spoke last April upon my return from Cuba, while I was on the air playing records I had just brought back from there.

Tony & I met in 1972 when he and I were involved in our respective Pacifica Radio stations' (KPFA & KPFK) transitions to more programming reflecting the anger, cultural richness, hopes and desires of our Chicano / Latino communities. I was at KPFA and Tony was...

So sorry to hear of Tony's passing. I worked with him at KPFK in Los Angels back in 1975-77. I was his producer for Latin Quarter, the friday night party show, first in LA. We played Los Lobos del Este De Los Angeles (before they were famous) Freddy Fender, the entire Fania Records catalog, Malo,Santana, You name it. He talked to the carnalitos and their huizas like they were right there in the room. We did Cinco de Mayo live broadcasts from Rio Hondo College in Whittier and from other...

I met Tony at Chris Barajas' sister's wedding reception some years back. I felt that he was a warm and genuine man that I never had the pleasure of seeing again but Chris would speak of him to me. I also remember some of the women at our table, at the reception, vying for his attention. I'm very sorry to hear of his passing but I'm sure he's in good hands with God now.

How sad I am to learn of this marvelous mans passing. He was a great friend, a wonderful humanitarian, a compassionate soul, an unending font of information, a great conversationalist but what I remember most was his unending pride in his children. Anthony and Uzete you have big shoes to fill so always remember you are Tony's children and for that you can always carry your heads high and walk tall.
My sincerest condolences to you

Tony Salazar left us great gift: followers who spread his message. I help immigrants to learn English, seek legal status, and fend for themselves. I also teach SAT to high schoolers to prepare them for that higher education that eludes many Chicano/as who are not economically ready to take that road. I will continue to help others so that Tony's gift will live on as those whom I've helped will grow to help others as they were helped and as Tony helped others.

To the Salazar Family:

I am proud to say I knew Tony and he is someone I always admired and respected. He was a positive role model and example for all Latinos.

Dear Familia and Friends of Tony,

One of the most powerful, intelligent and charming individuals who made me feel proud of his work, work ethics, morals and values but most of all for being a Latino with a whole lot of class.
He will be missed, but never forgotten -- I'll see you neighbor.
