CUYAHOGA FALLS – Anthony C. Santomauro (Tony Mauro), 81 passed away February 13, 2011. Mr. Santomauro was born in Akron grew up in North Hill, graduated from North High School, attended the University of Akron and resided his entire adult life in Cuyahoga Falls. He served as an officer in the Army Reserves during the Korean War and was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He worked as a general contractor/builder for Mauro Construction and built numerous homes in Fairlawn, Silver Lake, Stow, Cuyahoga Falls and the Akron area for D’Alessio Construction. Preceded in death by loving mother and father Mary and Emiddio Santomauro, brother James Santomauro and son-in-law Jim Cowan, he is survived by Ruth Colleen Murphy (Santomauro); children, Marsha Santamauro, Andrea Renee Cowan, Lisa Arlene (Timothy) Madden, Brenda Elaine (Robert) Kropp, Craig Anthony (Leslie) Santomauro and Christopher Emil Santomauro; grandchildren, Vanessa and Marisa, Monica, Michael and Sara, Timothy Jr, Blake and Trisha, Melissa, Jacob and Hannah and Brandon and Brooke; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Elise Santomauro and Angela Cook and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, February 17 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St, Cuyahoga Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, February 18 in St. Joseph Church. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Akron, 7996 Darrow Rd, Twinsburg, OH 44087. Military Rites will be rendered by American Legion Charles Faust Post 281. Tony was a friend, a boss, a mentor, a gentleman, and the time I spent with him in my early years is fondly recollected. When I needed work while attending school he let me adjust my hours according to classes, paid me a fair wage, and had many deep discussions with me regarding manhood and the importance of family.
