Obituary

SOUKUP, Anthony J. "Tony" Jr., 72, of Sandston, passed away on July 30, 2009. He was born in Sandston on May 9, 1937 to the late Anthony J. Soukup Sr. and Mary Katherine Kus. Tony went to work for Dominion, formerly VEPCO, having started as a lineman and later working his way up to operations supervisor before retiring with over 35 years of service. He also had retired from the Virginia National Guard with 37 years of service in the R.C.A.T. Unit. Tony was a lifelong member of St. John's Catholic Church in Highland Springs. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Linda Soukup; and a sister, Barbara Soukup Walton. Survivors include his former spouse, Barbara G. Soukup; son, Anthony J. "Toby" Soukup III and wife, Kim; daughter, Teri Soukup Kidd and husband, Mike; brother, Charles Soukup and wife, Carole; sister, Katherine Ford and husband, Welwood; three grandchildren, Matthew W. Soukup, Bryan M. Soukup and Chelsea Ann Kidd. Visitation will be 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 2 and Monday, August 3 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the Nelsen Funeral Home, Laburnum Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4 at St. John's Catholic Church in Highland Springs. Interment will immediately follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
